In other better news!

Exciting stuff at our place, things keeping moving which is awesome. Roof on, gutters fascia, bricks starting, inside electrical almost finished, plumbing done, bath thingo in, BIFOLD DOORS IN! WOO HOO! Front door and garage door are on. Lock up here we come..

We don't like the front door so we are hoping it will grow on us as things progress and it is painted. Otherwise its an easy thing to change post handover. We thought it would look classic but it just dates the otherwise modern look of the house.

-This was me having a moment like that Colorbond ad.. like ahhh the roof, its bewdi-ful! ;P

Brick issue

The next post will be updating with general progress; but before we get to that, we have our first real 'issue'; check out this brick error; can you see the garage wall at the start of the shot is how the bricks -should- look, all one colour, no variations. Now check the southern wall of the house to the right - it is in shadow but you can see that the bricks are all over the shop, light and dark and just look crazy. Eek!

At this stage we will be asking for this crazy wall  be rendered - but we really wanted the exposed brick at the back area. Hopefully a full render won't be required.

We are off..

Not much time heading into the silly season but wanted to share our great progress..

Standing in the back left corner of our block for this shot. Site cut!

Piers done, plumbing and electrical underground in.. a loo, tap.. its all happening! Unfortunate issue going on with this fill side, needs a retaining wall and PD are saying it doesn't. Anyway, so far so great.

An update! What have you missed?

Well those pesky soil reports did come back and suggest that we required piering – making us a 650sq block. 1.2-2.4m fall left to right, H class waffle slab. The cost went up to a further $15K over our very detailed estimate from another reputable builder creating issues for us with affording our upgrades. We have spent some time fluctuating between happy and unhappy campers. Right now we are in the down camp again having received an estimate site start of late November. We had originally been very clear on needing an October site start and it does feel like after some significant fluffing around and about 11 emails since August asking for things to be processed promptly, here we are.

We do feel though that PD attempt to resolve any concerns that we raise when we raise them which is a large part of what directed us to them as a builder in the first place. However it is draining having to chase up on so many levels. Hope that having the house plan we love in the end will make up for all the palaver.

Our extremely competent BC [S] has resigned – is it just me or do they have some crazy big turnover in there? Unfortunately not filling me with confidence. Hope to be back blogging again soon with a site start date. In the meantime, we finally got a little sold sticker on our land board ;P.

OH! We also found out the house number we will be on our street - funny how the little things feel like very exciting news :)
